AMD four-core Barcelona ready in August
AMD is ready to take the market share of four-core processor from Intel.Intel leadthe market with it’s four-core Clovertown that was shipped months ago. To leapfrog Intel at four-core battle, AMD has preparing Barcelona, it’s four-core processor that was announced tobe available”this summer”.
AMD at last announcing the firm ship date for Barcelona. The 2.0GHz SE standard and 1.9GHz HE low-power version will be shipped in August. Systems powered by Barcelona expected to be ready in September.
Of course Barcelona with just 2.0 GHz frequency doesn’t impress anyone. How about AMD’s promise to beat Clovertown by 40-50 percent ?
“Our evaluations show us that we’ll be able to quickly increase the frequencies in Q4,” Randy Allen AMD VP said. “There will be a very steep increase.”
So we can expect a 2.5 GHz Barcelona by the end of the year.
