Via designed Nanobook UMD

Via collaborated with First International Computer, Inc(FIC) designed an ultra mobile computing device called Nanobook. Nanobook is only sized in 9×6.7×1.14 inches ( 230×171x29.4 mm) and only weight 1.9 pounds (850 grams). Nanobook has notebook form factor but has UMPC size, or we can call it clampshell type of UMPC.
It’s 7-inch screen can give you 800×400 pixel resolution. Running Windows XP or Windows Vista Basic, Nanobook will be powered by a low voltage 1.2 GHz Via C7-M processor. Harddisk will be 30GB or 60 GB. no information ofor graphic adapter but Nanobook will includes a place for MobilityPLUS Modules to add Bluetooth VoIP phone, GPS, DVB or 3G/CDMA capability.
“The unrivaled portability and functionality of the VIA NanoBook makes small screen PDA devices seem hopelessly obsolete,” stated John Villejo, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for FIC. “Users searching beyond cumbersome laptops will also find familiarity with the ergonomics of the VIA NanoBook but with the added benefit of extreme mobility.”
Packard Bell will be the first manufacturer who adopt Via Nanobook design in their EasyNote XS series.
“The EasyNote XS is a ground breaking new device that combines the functionality of a PC with the convenience of a handheld,” commented Roger Yuen, Asia Pacific Vice President of Packard Bell. “We are very excited about the potential of this new category of Ultra Mobile Devices in the market.”
