Sony VAIO P-series, the Lightest 8-inch Netbook
Sony introducoing a lightweight 8-inch netbook called Vaio P-series at CES 2009. Sport a 8-inch touchdisplay with 1600 x 768 resolution, this Vaio netbook weighs at 1.4 pounds only. The Vaio is powered by a 1.33 GHz Atom Z530 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 60 GB HDD. For connectivity, this Sony Vaio support Wifi b/g/n and 3G connectivity. Its price will be around $900.

Auckland: 9 January, 2009 – Sony Corporation today announced a brand new 8-inch notebook – the new VAIO P “Pocket style PC”. A full-featured notebook PC in a small pocket size, small enough to grip with one hand. Combined with a premium design and wireless network functionality, the VAIO P fuses mobility, style, and usability.
Pocket sized convenience
About the size of a business envelope and roughly as thin as a cell phone, the VAIO P weighs just 594g with SSD (Solid State Drive) / 620g with HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and is small enough to slip into a pocket or handbag while integrating full-PC features. Designed to provide the feel of a common notebook, the VAIO P series provides a convenient typing experience by extending the keyboard to the perimeters of the chassis maximizing the typing area. The isolation keyboard has been engineered to help reducing typing mistakes.
The model incorporates a high-resolution, 1600 x 768, LED backlit 8-inch ultra-wide display, making it easy to view two full web pages side by side. The LCD screen produces images in brilliant detail, while the anti-reflective coating, reducing light reflection, and provides razor-sharp viewing on-the-go.
Stylish design for your lifestyle
Stylish to take anywhere, the VAIO P series is available in a range of premium glossy colours; Red, Green, Black and White with matching carrying cases and Bluetooth® mice also available. The colours are meticulously painted on the magnesium body in multiple layers, and finally hand-polished to achieve a glossy finish like polished mineral ore.
The ultra mobile experience
VAIO P features an Instant Mode that launches into Sonys Xross Media Bar interface for quick boot up and access to music, video, photos and the Web.
Based on the Windows® Vista platform the VAIO P is able to run software normally found in full-size notebooks. A convenient windows arrangement utility has been included to organise all open documents or websites easily with one touch, and positioning them neatly alongside each other on a single screen. Furthermore, a built-in webcam, noise-cancelling technology/headphones (only VGN-P15G), built-in wireless LAN 802.11b/g/Draft n and Bluetooth® are equipped for enhancing your mobile experience.

Sony Vaio P Available for Pre-Order…
Sony knows that we can’t wait for Vaio P any longer. So Sony just announcing that the Vaio P netbook is now available for pre-order. Regarding price, there are no fix price yet but it will be somewhere between $900 and $1,500. [source]
