Purple Magic, 3G Linux cellphone below $100
LG KU250 is known as the cheapest 3G cellphone in the market, but no more. NXP Semiconductors and Purple Labs works together to deliver a Linux based 3G cellphone which will be retailed under $100 called Purple Magic.According to CEO of Purple Labs, Simon Wilkinson “Leveraging our Linux technology, the Purple Magic design now enables manufacturers to deliver compelling 3G products at a transfer price below $100.”.
The Purple Magic is running a single ARM926 processor core and works seamlessly in 2G and 3G networks. The Purple Magic featuring video call, music player and high speed internet access. You can find the Magic Purple at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, Spain in the NXP booth .
