UFS : Universal Flash Storage
Universal Flash Storage (UFS) will be the solution of interchangeable gadgets memory for cellphones, digital cameras, camcorders, PMP or other mobile devices. The Universal Flash Storage memory cards will be built to a common standard. UFS is the result of some giant player of mobile devices manufacturer, like Micron Technology, Inc., Nokia, Samsung Electronics, Sony Ericsson, Spansion Inc., STMicroelectronics, and Texas Instrumentsand claimed to have a high speed transfer rate which will transfer 90 minutes HD movie (4GB) file in just few seconds.
“This collaborative effort will provide the industry with an open standard mass-memory solution with optimal performance and interoperability,” said Seppo Lamberg, senior vice president of technology platforms at Nokia
Universal Flash Storage is expected to be available in 2009.
